Nala?s journey with Dogs on Deployment began when the organization helped her military family with the cost of her spay surgery, sparking a lasting connection that grew even stronger when they later received emergency veterinary assistance for another beloved pet. Inspired by that support, Nala and her owner, Hillary, became passionate advocates for military pet owners, raising awareness through deployment briefings, military conferences, and community outreach. During their two-year tenure representing Dogs on Deployment, Nala also helped shine a light on the importance of emotional support animals, mental health, and the extraordinary comfort pets provide to military families, especially those raising children with special needs.

We?re bringing Dogs on Deployment?s past mascot shirts back from the archives as we prepare to search for the 2027 American Hero Pet of the Year and Dogs on Deployment?s 15th Mascot.
Each mascot represents a chapter in Dogs on Deployment?s history and the military families and pets at the heart of our mission. This limited collection gives our community a chance to revisit those stories, celebrate the mascots who represented us through the years, and support the work that continues today.
Past mascot designs will return to the archives when the 2027 American Hero Pet of the Year is announced on January 1st, 2027.
