THE ETHICAL SOCIETY OF SAINT LOUIS
Who We Are
The Ethical Society of St. Louis is a Humanist congregation, a place where people come together to explore the biggest questions of life without reference to scripture, religion, or God. We are a diverse, ethics-centered community of caring people dedicated to deed before creed.
"Platform? is our Sunday morning community meeting from 11am to 12pm. Platform consists of opening words offered by a member of the Society, music performed by local musicians, and a half-hour talk to center our community on a humanistic idea and teach us something new! We enjoy a wide variety of music genres, instrumentation, and performers to celebrate human diversity and learn about music from all cultures and periods.
OUR MUSIC PROGRAMS
Featured Platform Performers
Our featured platform musicians are skilled performers sharing their own original music or established music from a variety of cultures and traditions. Our performers range from professional musicians to highly skilled and experienced performers. We strive to connect the music selections from our featured performers with our speaker themes to deepen our congregation?s experience as they explore new ideas during our weekly platform.
Justice Choir STL
Twice each year, we present concerts in partnership with local community organizations working to build justice and dismantle systems of oppression. Our multimedia concerts feature spoken word, video, singers and instrumentalists, education around a local justice issue, and opportunities to get involved. All voices are welcome! All you need is an interest in singing and a passion for justice; we will take care of the rest. Learn more here.
Ethical Voices
Ethical Voices is our in-house choir. We perform four times each year during platform: two Justice Choir Concerts, Good Cheer in December, and Music Festival in February. We rehearse after platform on Sundays or on Wednesday evenings (please check the music calendar for dates and times). All voices are welcome! We sing in a variety of styles, and we value building community with one another through music.
The Ethical Band
The Ethical Band is The Ethical Society of St. Louis' house band, composed of and led by members who are musicians of all kinds, ages, and skill levels! Whether you are a trained player, beginner, or just want to shake a tambourine, The Ethical Band is a great way to both dip your toes into performing and become more involved in our Humanist community.
