About this campaign
EVERYONE'S BILL COMES DUE.
See the front of this shirt? That's a bill. Itemized. Years of my time, my money, my help, my loyalty ? served up at my table, free of charge, to people who never once reached for the check.
Understand me: this isn't bitterness. A table feeds people ? that's what it's for, and I fed everybody who sat down at mine. All I'm saying is the meal was never free. Somebody always pays. For years, that somebody was me.
That season is over. No more free meals.
And this bill isn't just about the past. It's about right now. My landlord ate at my table too ? took my rent and handed me back mold, mice, and lies, figuring a disabled man on SSDI would never hand him a bill. He figured wrong. Every dollar from this shirt goes to my fight: taking that landlord to Superior Court, with my receipts in hand.
This shirt is for us. For those of us who got taken advantage of just because they thought they could ? because we didn't have a lawyer. Because we didn't have an advocate. Because we didn't have an extra thousand dollars sitting around for a retainer, and nobody gave us the best advice, because advice costs money too. For those of us who are tired ? bone tired ? of being taken advantage of just because we don't have an expensive $700-an-hour lawyer standing next to us. This shirt is ours.
So look at that bill one more time and ask yourself ? who's been eating at YOUR table?
