I?ve spent my life loving and advocating for the natural world, but if I?m being honest, I often feel completely paralyzed by how massive our environmental issues are. Most of the time, the news around it feels so urgent and dire that it?s hard to find any room for hope. It starts to feel too big to make a difference and too far away to actually do anything.
After studying abroad in college, I decided I wanted to create a space that felt different. I wanted to share my art and the facts exactly as they are, without the fear-mongering, and focus on the small, approachable solutions we can actually do right now. My goal is to make conservation feel less like a distant, scary problem and more like a conversation we can all have.
This design is the foundation of that idea. It features four doodles of black-eyed susans, a little homage to my home state, Maryland, paired with the mantra: Grow Deep, Wander Far.
To me, growing deep is about having a solid foundation. It?s about knowing your roots, your community, and your values so well that they keep you steady. Wandering far is the curiosity that comes next. It?s the freedom to explore the world with an open heart and a sense of wonder. You need those deep roots to sustain the long journey, and you need the journey to keep those roots from feeling like an anchor.
I?m donating 25% of the profits from these shirts to the World Wildlife Fund to help them protect the wild places that allow all of us to wander.
By wearing this, you?re helping me bridge that gap between feeling overwhelmed and taking action. You?re giving yourself a chance to educate and inspire the people around you, both actively through conversation and passively, just as they read it and walk by.
Thank you for helping keep the world wild!
