One of our main educational projects is the Kennedy Creek Salmon Trail located in Shelton, WA. The Kennedy Creek Salmon Program has been going on for over 20 years. In November, around 20,000 chum come to Kennedy Creek to spawn. In November, we host field trips for children from preschool to college to teach them about the importance of salmon in their community. In 2025, we hosted around 2,500 students during this program and an estimated 2,000 visitors during the weekends. This program does not happen without the support of our community. Every year, we have around 30 docents who volunteer their time to share their knowledge of salmon with the youth. During this program, students learn about the life history of salmon (different salmon species, spawning habits, and migration patterns, salmon habitat (three C?s and riparian zones), and tribal connection and history to the area. For many people, this is their first time they get to see a salmon in its natural habitat. We take great pride in creating this unique experience to bring to the community. During November, we also host a salmon celebration at the Kennedy Creek Salmon Trail. The Salmon Celebration is where we bring the community together over food and the passion for salmon. In 2025, we saw over 200 people at the salmon celebration.
