The native and iconic Belize Yellow-headed Amazon parrot (Amazona oratrix belizensis), is an endangered species of parrot, with this subspecies being unique and ONLY found in the wilds in Belize. Smugglers and poachers still actively take these babies and sell them into the pet trade. Belize Bird Rescue is working with the Belize Forest Department and TIDE to actively stop this, and rescue victims of the pet trade, rehabilitating them so they can once again fly free in the beautiful country of Belize.
