Christophers kitchen is a local non profit organization that manages, supplies and stocks a number of patients and family rooms on the oncology wings of hospitals like Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. They provide an essential drink and snack/food supply for patients and families during treatments and overnight stays in the hospital. There are so many things to think about when your loved one is undergoing the process of treating cancer that sometimes people forget to bring snacks or lunch foods and drinks for themselves and Christophers kitchen provides these items free of charge for anyone in the oncology area of the Hospital. It has been a great resource for my family while my son has been recovering from Leukemia and will continue to be essential for families for years to come. These types of programs make the undeniable horror of a loved ones cancer diagnosis feel a little more bearable by providing a slight comfort in the form of a free coffee, water, snack, Ramen cup, Mac and cheese cup etc. and many other things that can be easily stocked on a shelf for use when the families or patients just want or need a quick snack or drink without the burden of leaving their loved one to go to the cafeteria and spending money that they will undoubtedly need for other things during the treatment and recovery process.
