A Little Lipstick. A Lot of History.
The Lipstick & War logo puts a modern twist on the iconic insignia of the Women's Army Corps (WAC), the women who served in the United States Army during World War II. Inspired by their service, experiences, and enduring legacy, this collection is a nod to the women who made military history?and a way to wear a little of that history yourself.
History is at the heart of everything we do.
Founded in 2020, Lipstick & War is an independent public history project dedicated to researching, preserving, and sharing the history of the Women's Army Corps during World War II.
Approximately 150,000 women served in the WAC, taking on hundreds of military occupations at installations across the United States and in overseas theaters of war. Their experiences challenged expectations about women's roles in the military and helped shape the future of women's service in the U.S. Armed Forces. Yet many of their individual stories remain unfamiliar to the public.
Through archival research, public speaking, living history, and digital storytelling, Lipstick & War works to bring those stories to a wider audience. From the everyday realities of Army life to the larger questions of gender, race, and military service, our goal is to explore the history of the WAC with curiosity, care, and a commitment to historical accuracy.
Your purchase supports that mission.
Every purchase from this collection helps support the research, educational programming, and content creation that make Lipstick & War possible. Whether you're a historian, a living history enthusiast, a veteran, or simply someone who believes women's military history deserves a place in the historical record, thank you for being part of it.
Wear the history. Keep the stories alive.
