October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As a cancer survivor, this is a special month for me because it also happens to mark one year since I completed treatment. To celebrate the occasion and to support others who are experiencing what I went through, I'm raising funds to support organizations that helped me.

When I went through treatment last year, I was unable to work for several months. This was a tremendous financial burden on our family during an already profoundly stressful time. Fortunately, several nonprofits helped us with everything from mortgage and utility payments to medical bills and groceries. While there were multiple nonprofits that helped, for my fundraiser, I've chosen to support two organizations ? Roberta's Legacy and Pink Fund.

The lotus flower on the shirt (designed by me) represents resilience and overcoming adversity.
