I never imagined I would have to write these words.

After months of doing everything I possibly could to keep going, I've made the heartbreaking decision that One By One Deathrow Dog Rescue will be closing once every dog in our care has found a safe home or placement with a reputable rescue.

This isn't because I've stopped caring. If anything, I care too much. ?

For years, I have poured every ounce of my heart, time, energy, and finances into this rescue. I've worked multiple jobs, sacrificed countless hours of sleep, and carried the emotional weight of every dog we've saved. Together, we've given over 200 dogs a second chance at life?dogs that many had already given up on.

But the reality is one person can only carry so much.

Donations have slowed to almost nothing. Adoptions have become incredibly rare. The cost of veterinary care, food, preventatives, insurance, and simply keeping the rescue running continues to rise. I've fought as hard as I know how, but I can't continue to do it alone.

My heart is completely shattered. ?

This rescue has never been "just a rescue." It has been my life, my purpose, and my family. Every dog we've welcomed, every late-night emergency, every medical battle, every loss, every happy adoption, every tail wag?it has all meant everything to me. Walking away is the hardest decision I've ever made, but I have to be honest about what I can realistically sustain.

Right now, my only focus is making sure every single dog still in our care gets the future they deserve.

If you've ever considered adopting, fostering, volunteering, donating, transporting, or even sharing our posts, now is the time. These dogs didn't choose this situation, and they deserve every chance we can give them.

There is one dog whose story won't end with the rescue?Cleo. ???

Cleo is family. She will always have a home with us, and our promise to her will never change. In the coming weeks, we'll be holding a fundraiser to build a tiny home just for Cleo?a safe, comfortable place where she can live happily and peacefully for the rest of her life. Even though the rescue is coming to an end, our commitment to her never will.

As we begin this difficult transition, we will also be taking every possible step to settle the rescue's remaining debts. Our rescue van will be repaired and then sold, with every dollar from the sale going toward outstanding veterinary bills. We will also be holding a massive yard sale, with all proceeds helping pay down what we still owe to our veterinary partners who have always been there for our dogs.

Whether you donated $5, opened your home to one of our dogs, fostered, transported, volunteered, prayed, or simply shared our posts, you became part of every life we saved. Because of your kindness, more than 200 dogs who were once out of time were given hope, love, and a future they otherwise would never have had.

That legacy can never be taken away..

As difficult as this goodbye is, we aren't done yet. We still have dogs depending on us, and they need your help now more than ever ??
