We Remember.
On September 30, we wear orange to remember:
...the atrocities and multi-generational impact of the Canadian Indian residential school system
...the children that were stolen, died while there or never made it home
...the children that survived and carried with them the trauma they endured
... the many Wabanaki children who were taken to residential schools in Canada and the United States.
September 30 is the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation in Canada. Today and every day we honor the stolen children, the survivors, their families, and their descendants.
We reflect on the disproportionate numbers of indigenous children in the child welfare system today and resolve to share truth and create change.
