Turning Point exists to provide safety, hope, and a pathway forward for individuals and families who have experienced domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual assault. For many survivors, the moment they walk through our doors represents one of the most courageous decisions of their lives. They are leaving behind fear, uncertainty, and often everything they once knew in search of something simple yet profound: safety. At Turning Point, we want every person who reaches out to us to know one powerful truth. YOU are safe here.
Every year, countless individuals and families find themselves in situations where their homes are no longer safe. Domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking affect people from every background, every neighborhood, and every walk of life. Survivors often face not only physical harm, but emotional trauma, financial instability, isolation, and fear. Many arrive with little more than the clothing they are wearing, unsure of what tomorrow will bring. Turning Point exists to meet them in those moments of crisis and provide the support needed to begin again.
At the heart of Turning Point?s mission is a commitment to walk alongside survivors as they reclaim their lives. Our work begins with safety. For someone fleeing violence, the first and most urgent need is a secure place to go. Our emergency shelter provides that refuge. When individuals and families arrive, often after making a difficult and emotional escape, they are greeted with compassion and reassurance.
Providing shelter is only the beginning. Survivors who come to Turning Point often face complex challenges that extend far beyond the immediate crisis. Many must rebuild their lives from the ground up. They may need help finding employment, securing stable housing, accessing medical care, or navigating legal systems. They may be coping with trauma that affects their ability to trust, to feel safe, or to envision a future beyond the violence they experienced. Our team is dedicated to addressing these needs with trauma-informed care, dignity, and respect.
Turning Point offers a wide range of supportive services designed to help survivors heal and rebuild. Our advocates work closely with individuals and families to assess their needs and create personalized plans for moving forward. These plans may include crisis intervention, safety planning, legal advocacy, counseling referrals, support groups, and assistance with basic necessities such as clothing, food, and transportation. Every service is grounded in the understanding that healing is not one-size-fits-all. Each survivor?s journey is unique, and we honor that individuality in the support we provide.
Our philosophy can be captured in three powerful words that guide everything we do: Support. Empower. Believe.
