As a therapist, suicide prevention and education has been a huge passion of mine. After losing someone near and dear to me to suicide in December, suicide awareness and prevention suddenly became more personal to me.
I wrote the song "Please Stay" from a place of grief, love and hope- with the message that even in your darkest moments, your story isn't over.
The lyrics in the song speak to the person who feels exhausted, afraid, overwhelmed, or unsure if they can keep going. At its heart, the song is a reminder that pain can make it difficult to see beyond the present moment, but it does not mean your story is over. When I wrote the words "Please Stay," I was not promising that suddenly everything will be okay, but I wanted to extend the invitiation to hold on long enough to see what comes next.
The Please Stay Campaign was created to carry that message beyond the song. With each shirt purchase, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to support suicide prevention, education, adovacy, research, and resources for those impacted by suicide.
My hope that the song lyrics and the shirts do two things at once: help fund meaningful prevention work and put visible reminders like "Please Stay" and "Your Story Isn't Over" into the world for someone who may need to see them.
This campaign is deeply personal to me. It is a way to honor someone I loved, raise awareness, and remind others that their life has value.
Hope is here. Even if you haven't seen it yet.
"Please Stay" by Hanna Kaylin, now streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, and most major streaming platforms.
