About this campaign
The Pacific Northwest International Section (PNWIS) of the Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing environmental leadership. It provides a neutral forum for discussion, education, and networking on technical issues related to environmental management in the U.S. Pacific Northwest and Western Canada. Through its mission, PNWIS supports professional development and informed environmental decision-making that benefits society.
One of its key initiatives is the Environmental Challenge (EC) Program, a student team competition where participants research and propose solutions to complex, real-world environmental problems. The program emphasizes multidisciplinary collaboration across fields such as engineering, policy, planning, and economics. Students present their solutions to panels of environmental professionals, fostering meaningful interaction between emerging and established leaders.
