Founded in 1714, Prospect Hill Cemetery is the oldest and only cemetery in Millis, covering over 18 acres on the west side of the village center. The oldest portion sits at the top of the hill where the site of Millis's first meeting house once stood, marked today by original granite steps and a commemorative boulder. Among those buried here are Revolutionary War veterans, twelve men who gave their lives in the Civil War, two Medal of Honor recipients, and Charles Wesley Emerson, founder of Boston's Emerson College. The cemetery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.
