About this campaign
Perkiomen Valley Library is a Nonprofit 501(c)(3)
The Perkiomen Valley Library is a 501c3 organization and donations help our library building. Fundraising in all forms, year round, is essential in maintaining our building so it can continue to provide lifelong learning opportunities for the community we serve and beyond.
About the building:
The building that today houses our library was built in 1954 by volunteers who shared the vision of Miss Eva Meng, Estelle Kline, Edna Meng and Mildred Reed to provide a free public library to the residents.
The building is the responsibility of the Perkiomen Valley Library, Inc. The Library Corporation was incorporated in March of 1954 and in November 1954 laid the cornerstone for the new building. In 1985 the name was changed from Schwenksville Community Library to Perkiomen Valley Library. In 1996, the Library became a branch of MC-NPL, which affords users the benefits of MCLINC, a county-wide library network; Access Pennsylvania, a state-wide library network; and POWER Library, a comprehensive database repository. Today, we are known as Perkiomen Valley Library at Schwenksville, A Branch of Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library. The library building remains the responsibility of Perkiomen Valley Library, Inc. and is maintained by the PVL board members and volunteers who donate their time and energy monthly to maintain the building and raising funds to support those efforts.
