About this campaign
The Decorah North eagles are nesting on private property north of Decorah. In general, they begin courtship in October, productive mating in late January or early February, and egg-laying in mid to late February. Hatch usually begins in late March to early April, and the eaglets fledge in mid-to-late June. While young usually disperse between August and October, the adults remain on territory year round.
2018 was a rough year for our resident pair of eagles. After a late second clutch of eggs, we got to watch two beautiful eaglets (DN7 and DN8) hatch and sadly they were only with us for a week before succumbing to the black flies and heat. This shirt was designed in their memory and to recognize the resilience of the amazing bald eagles that call northeast IA their home. Thanks to our inspired artist Kathleen Weiland for sharing the shirt design!
Our cams inspire and educate millions of people every year, but they cost money to research, deploy, stream, and operate. 100% of the funds raised through the sale of these T-shirts will go to offset the costs of managing the Decorah North Nest site including potential nest rebuilding and camera broadcasting equipment.
We create, improve, and directly maintain over 50 nests and nest sites, provide training in nest site creation and management, and develop innovations in nest site management and viewing that bring people closer to the natural world. Our mission is to preserve and strengthen raptor populations, expand participation in raptor preservation, and help foster the next generation of preservationists.
