Check out our new fundraising attire! All proceeds will go towards Eowyn?s new pasture. We have been fencing in an acre, building a shelter, and working on a water line. Eowyn?s pasture is across the street from our barn. This placement will allow her to see, hear, and smell her friends. We will be adding tons of enrichment toys for her as we continue to partner with our vet and other sanctuaries to brainstorm companion ideas. We are introducing Eowyn to her pasture this Saturday. We will be putting the final touches on her shelter and spending the day with her as she adjusts. We can?t wait to see her super fast zoomies as she explores her new big girl section. We look forward to you all rocking her new gear and sharing Eowyn?s story with others.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Eowyn?s story please read below.
Eowyn dreams of snuggling her mom, joining a herd, running and playing, and head butting Levi again. These dreams were taken from her by the dairy industry.
Eowyn has been diagnosed with BVD PI. Eowyn?s mother was artificially inseminated year after year so that humans can consume her milk. Shortly after delivering, her babies were taken from her. If female, they are likely living a similar fate as mom. If male, they were likely killed before 3 weeks of age. Last Fall, Eowyn?s mom was lent to a different dairy farmer ?to see how he likes lineback cows productivity.? She was never quarantined and her vaccination status was not checked. She was exposed to BVD while pregnant with sweet Eowyn, which is why Eowyn is now persistently infected. This disease is preventable. It is because of a dairy farmers negligence that Eowyn?s dreams were taken from her. To him, she was a number, an experiment, and a useless product that wouldn?t provide him with profit.
Our dream for Eowyn is that people hear her story and pledge to go vegan today. Eowyn will never be able to snuggle her mom or headbutt Levi. She is unable to join our herd of friends. It is almost certain she will not celebrate her second birthday. It breaks our heart that we, a sanctuary, can?t fulfill Eowyn?s dreams. Please hear her story. She is beautiful, sweet, gentle, silly, and playful. She deserves 20+ birthdays, friendship, adventure, and peace. The dairy industry is cruel and filled with endless suffering. #govegantoday
