Founded in 1990 by 11 certified cat-ladies, The Scratching Post is a no-kill cat-only 501(c)3 shelter. Run by a volunteer board and a small handful of incredible employees and volunteers, our cats are group housed based on their needs like our Weight Loss Camp and our developing Senior Sunset Suite. We are renovating and remodeling our building and administrative programs, so we are not taking intakes at this time so we can help relieve our fellow shelters and rescues

Adoptions are done by approved application and scheduling.

Our adoption fee is $85.00 per cat.

All cats are recorded:

- Spayed/Neutered

- Microchipped

- Rabies Vaccinated

- FVRCP Vaccinated

- Combo Tested

- Dewormed/Flea/Tick

We host a Pop-Up Adoption Shop the last Sunday of each month to highlight the cats in our Adoption Room and invite the public to meet the cats and check out our Kit Care Kits (only $15) and buy-it-now items.

We have Open Houses twice a year: Our Anniversary Cookout in June, and our Holiday Open House in December.

We also have off-campus events (for the allergic cat lover) like our Spay-ghetti and Neut-ball Dinner in March and our CAToberfest in October, these locations may change based on availability.

You can sponsor specific "adoption challenged" cats for $25/month or $200/year. This helps us pay for prescription foods, medical treatments and vaccines, and overall operating care for your cat. You will also receive updates about your cat and the shelter, and birthday/holiday cards. These cats may have long-term medical needs like cerebellar hypoplasia, be aging or feral, or the many who came to the shelter as kittens and outgrew that cuteness before finding their Furever Home.
