For many decades, having a disability meant being labeled, underestimated, and separated in every space for the rest of your life. In the 1950s, the public education system didn't have programming for any children with disabilities, leaving families with special needs searching for a place for their children to learn and grow. Due to this lack of inclusive education services, Sunshine School & Development Center was founded with a strong commitment to seeing a person?s potential, not problems.

With a team dedicated to meeting each child where they are, our mission at Sunshine is to shatter limitations to enable people touched by disability, serving their unique journey through advocacy, therapy, and education.

Since 1958, Sunshine School & Development Center has enriched the lives of thousands of individuals in our community living with developmental delays and disabilities by offering a wide range of specialized therapy and early education services.

Because of our work, Northwest Arkansas families are better advocates, and their children now have the ability to thrive into the future without limits.
