Keeping rural emergency medical services rolling.

Access to EMS isn?t required by Iowa law. Neither is funding the only service that sends certified, qualified, and experienced emergency medical clinicians anywhere you need them. When you call 911, you aren?t guaranteed someone will answer that call. When tragedy strikes, when minutes can mean the difference between planning your loved one?s funeral or celebrating their next birthday, your local EMS agency is the only team that can turn the odds in your favor.

Their mission is saving lives, our mission is saving them.

In rural Iowa, the chance nobody shows up is much greater than in urban communities. The lack of funding, rising equipment and operating expenses, and a lack of volunteers has sent many services to their demise. The foundation provided grants that are specifically created to serve rural EMS agencies. These grants focus on durable equipment purchases, funding educational opportunities, and helping agencies cover volunteer certification costs. These are some of the greatest hurdles preventing Iowa from having a sustainable, reliable, and modern rural EMS system.
