Every year we fund a $1,000 scholarship for an Edison High School student who exemplifies the "community" in music and plans to continue their involvement in music after high school. They may or may not be a music major. The Ralph Sowden Memorial scholarship is named after Ralph Sowden, who graduated from Edison in 1971 and who served as NECB's treasurer for 20 years. He passed away in 2021.
