Sibley Prairie is not an empty expanse. It is an irreplaceable national treasure that's at risk of being lost to development. 

These 440 acres in Brownstown Township, just 20 minutes south of Detroit, represent the largest remnant of lakeplain prairie ? a globally rare ecosystem that's more than 99% gone. Sibley Prairie shelters endangered plants and pollinators, several mammal and reptile species, and critically imperiled wetlands. It's also a safe stopover site for hundreds of migratory bird species that pass through the Detroit area every year.
