At the Sunrise Healing Community, we believe culture is medicine, and we envision a future where all Indigenous youth and young adults have the tools they need to heal, grow, and thrive.

We work toward this vision by collaborating with Tribal Nations, Indigenous-serving organizations, and other partners to design and deliver strengths-based, educational, and interactive workshops, community events, and other initiatives both in-person and online. Our partners include the Mohegan Tribe, the Quinnipiac University Indigenous Student Union, the Furman University Native American and Indigenous Association, and more.

In April 2025, we co-hosted a Powwow Dancing Workshop in partnership with the Quinnipiac University Indigenous Student Union in Hamden, CT.

We will be co-hosting our 2nd annual Powwow Dancing Workshop at Quinnipiac in April 2026 (date TBD).

Also in April of 2025, we sponsored the Graduation Ceremony for the Quinnipiac University Indigenous Student Union (ISU) seniors at their 1st annual Dancing in the Shadow of Sleeping Giant Powwow. We gifted each senior a blanket to honor their transition from this chapter of their life to the next. These blankets served as reminders that they are never alone: they will always have the ISU community, and they will always carry the teachings, values, and love of their relatives and ancestors.

We will be co-sponsoring the 2nd Annual Dancing in the Shadow of Sleeping Giant Powwow on April 19, 2026. For more information, visit the event Facebook page.
