River Valley Church Outreach Group exists with a simple but powerful mission: to serve those who are often overlooked and to meet practical needs where gaps exist in traditional community support systems. While many organizations do incredible work within our communities, there are still individuals who fall between those services?people who need encouragement, comfort, and tangible help during difficult seasons of life. Our outreach currently focuses on supporting Veterans, the homeless, cancer patients, elderly residents in nursing homes and independent living communities, as well as incarcerated individuals. Each of these groups faces unique challenges, yet they share a common need for compassion, dignity, and hope. By identifying areas where needs remain unmet, River Valley Church Outreach Group strives to step in with thoughtful care packages and resources that remind recipients they are not forgotten.

To continue this mission, we are currently hosting an apparel fundraiser designed to directly support the creation and distribution of need-specific blessing bags. Every item purchased through this fundraiser helps provide practical supplies and comforting essentials to those we serve. For cancer patients, blessing bags may include lap blankets, knit hats, water bottles, puzzles, lotion, and other small comforts that can make long treatment days more bearable. Blessing backpacks for individuals experiencing homelessness, may contain water, high-protein snacks, hats, gloves, emergency blankets, toiletries, and a printed list of community resources that can guide them toward additional help. For elderly residents in nursing homes or independent living communities, packages may include word puzzles, lap blankets, large-print books, clothing, toiletries, art supplies, and other items that encourage engagement, comfort, and connection. For incarcerated individuals, we plan to provide Bibles and faith-based materials that offer hope, encouragement, and spiritual guidance during a time when many are seeking renewal and direction. A Bible is an especially meaningful component of our outreach, and it is our goal to include one in every care package whenever possible.
