Swift fox are native to the western Great Plains and experienced dramatic population declines in the 20th century due to predator control programs, despite their diminutive size- about as big as a large housecat! Reintroduction projects and conservation efforts have brought them back to about 40% of their original habitat, but swift fox remain a sensitive species in most states to which it is native.

Proceeds go to Prairie Wildlife Research, a 501(c) nonprofit dedicated to the conservation of native grasslands with a focus on highly endangered black-footed ferrets and their primary prey source, prairie dogs, a keystone species. Swift fox often associate with prairie dog colonies as well. In past years, PWR has collaborated with researchers to learn more about the habits and life history of reintroduced swift foxes in South Dakota.
