Hearing loss has been part of Elliot?s story since the very beginning ? and what a story it has been.
Elliot was born with bilateral moderate-severe sensorineural hearing loss and has worn hearing aids since he was just 3 months old. Since then, we?ve watched him grow into the funniest, sweetest, most determined little guy, finding his own ways to listen, communicate, connect and make himself known.
We?ve celebrated so many victories along the way. Some big, some tiny, and many that others might never even notice. Elliot's determination to keep trying when something doesn?t come easily. He continues to surprise us, make us laugh, and show us just how much he has to say even while he?s still figuring out exactly how to say it.
This October, we?re walking as Team Elliot at the Hearing Loss Association of America?s Walk4Hearing, and we would LOVE for our friends and family to join us Sunday, October 11 in East Windsor, NJ to celebrate this incredible kid and how far he?s come.
If you can?t walk with us, please consider donating to Team Elliot. Funds raised support hearing loss education, advocacy, resources and organizations like Summit Speech School ? a place that has become incredibly special to our family.
Summit has been part of Elliot?s journey from the beginning ? educating and guiding us after his diagnosis, providing his Early Intervention Teacher of the Deaf, and now giving Elliot a place to learn alongside other children with hearing loss while giving us a community of parents to learn from and lean on. As we prepare for the transition from Early Intervention to preschool, their support continues to mean so much to us. A portion of the money raised by Team Elliot will go directly back to Summit to help provide that same support and connection to other children with hearing loss and their families.
Mostly, we just want Elliot to look around that day and see a whole bunch of people in his corner. ??
