This fundraiser is being held to support my dear friend, Kalie, and her family with living expenses while her husband, Derek, remains in the hospital recovering from a devastating motorcycle accident.
Derek is a US Navy Veteran, UA Local 102 Pipefitter Welder, MMA/Jujitsu athlete, bull rider, husband, father, brother, friend, and so much more. He is the kind of person who would give you the shirt off of his back?and now, we?re hoping we can come together to give his family a little support while they navigate the unimaginable.
Derek was on his way to work to provide for his family when a vehicle cut in front of him, causing them to collide.
He suffered two broken legs, serious head trauma, and numerous other injuries. He has undergone multiple surgeries and remains sedated in the hospital to allow his body to heal. The full extent of his brain injuries won?t be known until he is able to wake up. When that time comes, Derek will face a long and difficult road of recovery, including relearning how to walk.
Through all of this, his wife, Kalie, is caring for their one-year-old son, while trying to manage everything at home and all of the duties required to keep Derek heading in the best possible direction. With Derek unable to work, their family has suddenly lost their source of income at a time when they are facing overwhelming medical, household, and everyday expenses.
That?s where we can help.
Proceeds from these shirts will go directly toward helping Kalie keep their family afloat while Derek fights to recover. Every shirt purchased is more than just a shirt?it?s a way of showing Derek and his family that they are not alone.
I am incredibly grateful that my friend found such an amazing man to share her life with and build a family with. Derek has spent his life working hard, providing for the people he loves, and being there for others. Now, it?s our turn to be there for him.
If you?re able, please consider purchasing a shirt, sharing this fundraiser, or simply keeping Derek, Kalie, their children and their family in your thoughts and prayers.
Every purchase, share, and prayer means more than you know. ??
If you want to donate directly, Kalie?s Venmo is @MissKayyK
