A few years back this beautiful depiction of ULC (pictured below) appeared in a frame on the wall in Pastor Gabe's office. It warms the heart of anyone who calls ULC their church home. It's been a dream to share this piece of art for some time, but more recently that dream needed to become a reality. The image was designed by Melissa Kasper's cousin, Jason Babcock, who has spent his last five years in and out of treatment for a slew of cancers. Jason has begun more experimental treatment at Mayo Clinic that insurances aren't able to cover. So, it was decided our dream of sharing Jason's design was going to become a reality and any proceeds and donations made through this campaign will be given right to the Babcock family.
A message from Jason's wife, Sarah:
Hello, we?re the Babcocks! Jason, Sarah, Gavin (14) and Eli (9). In 2020, Jason was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Unfortunately, it later metastasized to his lungs, lymph nodes and in early 2024, his brain. He has endured many, many treatments over the past five years including some of the toughest chemo regimens, lung surgery, brain surgery, a stem cell transplant, and brain radiation. Through it all, Jason wants to keep doing what he can to live life and be present for our boys. We have been fortunate to have great family and friends to support us on this journey so far.
Jason is currently being treated at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, which opens up potential for participation in research trials and other novel treatments. Insurance has covered most of his costs so far, but that is not the case with complex diagnostics such as genetic testing and some treatments not typical for Jason?s type of cancer. We are grateful for any help that can give Jason more time watching his boys grow up. Every day is a gift.
