In January 2026, at just 37 years old, Eric Smith was diagnosed with Stage 4 poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma of the colon. Newly engaged and raising a family, our lives changed overnight.
After suffering a life-threatening colon blockage in February, Eric underwent nearly six months of intense chemotherapy. On August 13th, he underwent an almost eight-hour surgery where doctors successfully removed the tumor, stent, an affected lymph node, and several other areas of concern. We truly believed we were finally turning a corner.
Unfortunately, recent scans brought devastating news. While the original colon tumor is gone, the cancer has returned and spread to his liver, and multiple lymph nodes surrounding his pancreas. Eric is now preparing to begin another, stronger round of chemotherapy.
Throughout this journey, Eric has held tightly to the poem Invictus as his anthem?a reminder of his strength and determination to keep fighting.
To help support Eric and our family, Kiana has designed several shirts inspired by Invictus. A portion of every purchase will go toward helping with medical expenses and the everyday costs of this journey. Donations can also be made through Eric?s GoFundMe.
Every purchase, donation, share, and kind word means more to us than we can put into words. Thank you for continuing to stand beside Eric and our family.
