I can?t believe it?s almost the 5-year anniversary of 10/07/2021. This will be the last year I design a t-shirt for this effort, so I wanted to bring back the original design?it?s always been my absolute favorite from over the years.
I did make one meaningful update, though. Over the last few years, I?ve found my faith and wanted to give thanks to our Savior, Jesus Christ. I added the phrase "God Speed" to the front and a cross to the back. "God Speed" comes from my favorite Zach Bryan song, and I know now that God is the reason I'm still here today. I am forever grateful.
Below is the history of Valhalla Can Wait and why I started this whole journey. Simply by selling t-shirts over the last four years, we?ve raised $4,383.22 to give back to first responders. My goal this year is to cross the $5,000 mark. For this final run, all money raised will go toward purchasing range equipment?specifically steel targets?to donate to the Grundy County Sheriff's Department.

Valhalla Can Wait was born on 10/07/2021.
My name is Tyler Post and I work with the Grundy County Sheriff's Dept. On 10/07/2021, I attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle south of Morris. The vehicle fled from the stop and I pursued. In the town of Mazon the pursuit ended when both my squad car and the suspect vehicle were involved in a crash. The driver of the suspect vehicle then fled on foot where I continued to pursue. I was gaining ground on the suspect and was about an arms length away when he turned and shot me 3 times. I was struck once in the left forearm, once underneath my left pectoral muscle, and once on the upper right side of my back. Two of the rounds were stopped by my Safariland Ballistic Vest. Thankfully, my injuries were minor and I was discharged from the hospital the next day.
The days after my incident are why I wanted to create this fundraiser. The support my family received is something I will forever feel indebted to.
If you aren't familiar with the Crossfit Community they participate in something called HERO WODs. They are workouts made to honor military and first responders. I was introduced to HERO WODs by participating in The Murph Challenge. I loved participating in it and it has become an annual tradition for me.
All of this led to the idea of creating a workout that the community could participate in while supporting first responders.

AMRAP 21:22
10 Push Ups
7 Bent Over Rows
21 Air Squats
300 M Run
AMRAP 5:00
Burpees
(AMRAP: As Many Reps as Possible)
The beginning of the workout goes for 21 minutes and 22 seconds in recognition of my Save Number I received from Safariland, SAVE 2122, the reps of 10 - 07 -21 were chosen in recognition of the date, 10/07/21, and the 300 meter run is in recognition of the 3 gunshots. The second part of the workout goes for 5 minutes. It was 5 minutes from the beginning of the traffic stop to when I called out shots fired. The name of the workout, Valhalla Can Wait, was inspired by my brother and our love for Viking History.

The workout can be completed whenever and wherever. Ideally it would be completed on October 7th of every year. There is no set location for it. I wanted this workout to be challenging, but still possible for everyone to do. Go at your own pace! Even if working out isn't your thing, I hope you still consider buying a shirt knowing that all the money will be going to support first responders!
Thank you for any support you have given me over the last 5 years.
