I was a (volunteer) worker at the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival for 20+ years. I can't remember what year I first made this design, but I made it while working on the land, in my time off, on shirts obtained at the local Meijer using a cardboard stencil and spray paint for a few worker friends. It was as DIY as you can get.
As it grew in popularity over the next years, it eventually evolved into a silkscreen which I printed at home and sold before, during, and after festival each year to fund my time spent there each summer.
When the festival ended, I did a final run of the shirts after I came home from working that year. I thought that would be the end of it. But during the pandemic lockdown there was for some reason a renewed interest, and since the original silkscreen was no long usable, I created this Bonfire campaign to satisfy the demand. It is as faithful to the original as I could make it. (I took a photo of a print from the original screen and digitized it.) The original shirts were done with brown ink so that remains, but here I'm able to offer a wider range of shirt styles and a grey option, as well as the original white color.
Now that WWTLC has bought the land where the festival happened for so many years and new events have been happening in the summer months there, interest in the shirt has been renewed once again. So I'm now offering the shirt in "always on" mode instead of doing it as a time-limited campaign, so it will always be available. (The profit is slightly less than doing it as a campaign but it's much less complicated this way, and you won't have to wait until a campaign ends for it to ship.)
50% of the profits on this design from here on out will be donated to WWTLC to support future events on the land.
I miss our time in the f*ing woods together, y'all! Thank you for your continued enthusiasm for this design and for supporting my creative endeavors as well as WWTLC.
