The Donauschwaben coat of arms was created by Hans Diplich in 1950.
On the top half of the Coat of Arms, the German Eagle is portrayed with his wings widespread in a protective manner symbolizing the responsibility of the German Emperor to protect his people. This is incorporated into the coat of arms because Donauschwaben history developed within the framework of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation until 1806.
The fortress of Temeschburg is depicted on the lower half of the Coat of Arms. The fortress towers are located between the sun, symbolizing the rise of Christianity, and the crescent moon, symbolizing the setting of Islam.
The fortress towers represent the six primary settlements of the Danube Swabian people: Central Hungarian Highlands, Swabian Turkey, Slavonia-Syrmia, Batschka, Banat, and Sathmar.
A wavy line symbolizes the Danube River. In boats, called ?Ulmer Schachteln? the Danube Swabian people traveled down river to settle in their new lands.
