Chehaw Park Authority is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Albany, Georgia. It is the governing body responsible for overseeing the operations, maintenance, development, and long-term management of Chehaw Park & Zoo. It was created by the Georgia Legislature in 1979 as a public authority to manage the park and zoo for the benefit of the public.
The Authority guides Chehaw?s broader mission of conservation, education, and recreation. Conservation efforts supported through Chehaw include wildlife education, habitat stewardship, participation in animal management programs, and support for conservation initiatives both on-site and in the wild.
