The Forestry and Fire Recruitment Program (FFRP) is a California-based nonprofit organization creating pathways into careers in forestry, fire, and wildfire resilience.
FFRP serves formerly incarcerated, justice-impacted, and underserved individuals who have the skills, potential, and commitment to serve their communities but may face barriers to entering the workforce. Through our Career Training Program, participants receive tuition-free, industry-recognized training and certifications, along with a stipend. The program also includes physical conditioning, career preparation, and individualized support to help participants meet the demands of the field and prepare for long-term careers.
FFRP provides additional paid, hands-on work experience through wildfire mitigation, fuels reduction, vegetation management, prescribed fire support, and other land stewardship projects. These opportunities allow participants to strengthen their skills, earn income, gain valuable field experience, and prepare for long-term employment.
Our support extends beyond training. FFRP helps participants navigate hiring processes, connect with employers, and transition into lasting careers with public agencies, private employers, conservation organizations, and fire departments.
By investing in people who have historically faced barriers to these career pathways, FFRP is helping build a more inclusive workforce, strengthen California?s wildfire resilience, and create safer, stronger communities.
